July 5, 2016 – Today, the House of Representatives is expected to begin debate and consideration of the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act (H.R. 2646). The bill – originally introduced in the aftermath of the Newtown, CT tragedy in 2012 – underwent substantial revisions in recent weeks and was unanimously approved last month by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. It contains many important provisions, including: codification of Medicaid coverage for inpatient mental health care, HIPAA education programs, reports and transparency on parity, additional grant programs and more. Please take two minutes and ask your Representative to vote “Yes” on H.R. 2646 – the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. This mental health bill – introduced and championed by Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) – moves us toward improving the delivery of mental health services. With your support, we can help pass the first standalone mental health bill in years. #1in1m
